Medieval Studies in Virginia
Here are university and college programs about medieval studies located in the state of Virginia:
Christopher Newport University
Christopher Newport University’s interdisciplinary minor in Medieval and Renaissance studies (MRST) is a new program developed to allow students to pursue their interests in the medieval and early modern periods, primarily in the western world. We began the program as part of a larger university initiative to create interdisciplinary programs of study that appeal to a wide range of students, and we look forward to developing the program into a major in the coming years and to broaden our scope to include the global middle ages and shift to modernity.
At CNU, students who choose this minor can study with highly engaged and accomplished professors in Art History, English, History, Philosophy and Theater, as well as with our colleagues in French, Italian, Spanish, German, Latin, and Greek (in the Department of Modern and Classical Language and Literature). MRST allows students to choose from a range of over thirty courses across these disciplines; we organize and participate several events each year, including film festivals, lectures, conferences, along with theatrical performances and workshops. Our program website can be found here: http://cnu.edu/interdisciplinary/medrenstudies/. We will be launching a WordPress Blog in August 2015, which will feature blogs by participating faculty and students about our classes and research projects, as well as about events, performances, and study abroad trips hosted by CNU.
Interested students should contact the Program Director, Sharon Rowley, at [email protected].
